TeleMatch DOTA Feb 21 - The Thrill of DOTA 2

TeleMatch DOTA Feb 21 – The Thrill of DOTA 2

Happy 2021! We started our first TeleMatch of the year with the DOTA 2 community on Saturday, 27 Feb. With a mixture of returning players, new players and overseas friends, 10 teams competed for a chance to win prizes from our prize partner Aftershock.

We had a number of competitive players joining us this TeleMatch, upping the playing field. Surprisingly, most of the teams held up against these teams and even coming to a point of playing neck-to-neck! This TeleMatch, we had a team made up of registered stand-ins and they proved to be a tough fight too as most of the games were close to an hour. The longest game was 1 hour and 25 minutes!

We were also encouraged by the teams’ feedbacks that TeleMatch was fun and it was actually some of the player’s first DOTA 2 competition that they experienced. The players even shared how they practiced before the games and got so excited that they woke up so early for check in. It was also encouraging to know that after TeleMatch, the players actually took the time to watch their replays and analyse the games together.

Special guest DJ joined us for a casual Q&A and we were really humbled by his sharing and advice.

“The one misconception, the most common one, people say it’s easy (to play games and earn money) but it’s really not. Because you have to commit your full-time and you really got to focus… and be away from your family, got to travel a lot of times, and it’s really not that easy”

If you would like to find out more, here’s a full session of the Q&A: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/931502092

It was encouraging to see the viewers stay tune all the way to the end and engaging each other on the livestream. A huge shoutout to the facilitators, casters and cameraman who have made TeleMatch DOTA 2 successful! If you want to be part the team to run TeleMatch from behind-the-scenes, feel free to volunteer with us here.
