TeleMatch DOTA Oct 20 – Same Same but Different

It has been almost 5 months since #SGPlaysTogether TeleMatch, and we definitely felt the excitement from the DOTA 2 community with our latest TeleMatch DOTA 2 which was held on Saturday, 24 October. It was interesting to see players returning to compete again while welcoming new contenders. We had 8 teams competing for a chance to win prizes from our prize partner, Aftershock.

We had players of differing rank joining TeleMatch, which made it difficult to predict the team that was going to emerge as the champion. There were notable DOTA 2 veterans joining the competition, which leveled up the competition ground. Despite the challenging games, we were proud that the teams showed perseverance and played through the group stages. The teams also displayed sportsmanship after each game, calling GGWP (good game well played) and GL (good luck) further.

Special guest Nutz joined us for a casual Q&A, and we really appreciate his honesty in sharing his experience and advice for the other players. If there is anything to take away from the session…

“Enjoy the game, DOTA is fun, especially with friends. But going really competitive isn’t easy at all. In any industry, if you wanna be at the top, it’s gonna be really hard. So just enjoy the game and stay happy, I guess.”

– Nutz, 2020

It was also encouraging to see the players tune in for the finals. With all the teams turning up on time, we managed to keep to the schedule and end the day earlier, just in time for Weekend Battle Cup. A huge shoutout to the facilitators, casters and Twitch moderators who have helped out and made TeleMatch DOTA 2 possible! If you would like to give back to the community in any way, feel free to volunteer with us here.
